Speed
Speed up slow stretches — like a long load or a repetitive step — without losing your voice.
Not every second of a demo deserves real time. A long install, a slow page load, or a repetitive bit of setup can be sped up so viewers get to the good part faster. In Playback, speed is a property of a segment.
Speeding up a stretch
- Split the take so the slow part is its own segment (press C at each end).
- Right-click the segment and choose a Speed preset.
The segment now plays faster, and everything after it slides earlier to close the gap. A sped-up segment wears a rate chip so you can see at a glance which parts aren’t at normal speed.
Fine-tuning the rate
Click a segment’s rate chip to select it and open the rate slider in the inspector, where you can dial in an exact speed. Because speed belongs to the segment, a split segment’s two halves are independent — you can run one at 2× and leave the other at normal speed.
Your narration stays natural
When you speed up a segment, Playback time-stretches the audio to match — with the pitch preserved. A 2× stretch sounds like the “2×” button on a video player: fast and clear, not a chipmunk. This applies in both the live preview and the final export, so what you hear while editing is what you’ll ship.
Tips
- Moderate speeds sound best. Up to around 1.5×–2× stays clear and natural. Very high rates can get rough — if a stretch is truly filler, consider cutting it instead.
- Speed the boring, keep the important. Fast-forward the load; play the click that matters at full speed so viewers don’t miss it.
